Iran hijab protests: 'We don't want this regime anymore'

Pick of the World

Available for over a year

Iranian chess official Shohreh Bayat fought her own battle with Iran's strict hijab rules in 2020, refusing to apologise for wearing her headscarf around her neck during a tournament. She later moved to the UK. She believes 2022 has been a turning point for Iranian women following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, and subsequent protests in defiance at the country's "morality police". Speaking to Pick of the World, Bayat said young Iranians "don't want this regime anymore". Picture: Iranian chess arbiter Shohreh Bayat at a Four Nations Chess League tournament in the UK.
