Dáithí MacGabhann's father Mairtin appeals to NI politicians to take action over organ donation

Good Morning Ulster

Available for over a year

Dáithí MacGabhann's father Mairtin makes a heartfelt appeal to Northern Ireland politicians to take action to introduce legislation to advance organ donation opt-out. Six-year-old Dáithí has been waiting for a heart transplant for almost five years. The political impasse over Stormont has resulted in the necessary secondary legislation being delayed. The Secretary of State, Chris Heaton-Harris, has said that the quickest way for this to be resolved was for the Assembly to reconvene to pass the legislation. The DUP, however, said that Westminster was the most appropriate place for the legislation to be introduced.
