Demolition likely for former Dorchester M&S, says new owner

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

Dorchester's former Marks and Spencer building could be demolished to make way for a hotel. The new owner of the building says it's fallen into disrepair in the years since M&S left the town's high street in 2020. Premier Inn's owner, Whitbread, told us it's explored keeping parts of the building but it's likely it will need a full demolition. Before that, parts of the building will still be used as an emporium for small businesses. Our reporter George Sharpe got to go behind the scenes at the building, while Steve Harris talks to local business groups and finds out about the building's history.
