The Stoma Swimmer

Available for over a year

Gill finds her voice and starts campaigning to raise awareness of birth injury. Finding other women who are also working to remove the stigma of having a stoma, she attracts the attention of a US charity and the artist Tracey Emin. Gill visits a hospital in Kenya where she meets women injured through birth trauma, sexual assault or FGM who are struggling to come to terms with their situation and finds herself in the houses of parliament. We meet Gill’s son, Sam. For information and support for issues covered in this programme visit bbc.co.uk/actionline
