‘It's not a joke. You are pregnant’: Athlete learns she’s pregnant days before UFC contract fight

Sport Today

Available for over a year

Corinne Laframboise was shocked when she found out she was three months pregnant days before fighting for a UFC contract. The Canadian Mixed Martial Artist had been for a compulsory blood test before the biggest fight of her career against Rainn Guerrero on Dana White's Contender Series, with the winner set to earn a UFC contract. Less than a week before the bout, Laframboise thought text messages from her doctor were a joke, before she received a phone call, telling her she would not be able to fight as the tests showed she was pregnant. Laframboise describes the moment she received the news to the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport’s Paul Battison. Image: Corinne Laframboise has her hands clenched whilst at a training venue.
