Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema are among some of the biggest names in world football who will be playing in Asia’s premier club competition this season. Asian football journalist Michael Church tells Sport Today’s Mani Djazmi how there’s never been as much interest in the AFC Champions League as this season, following big name players making the move to clubs in Saudi Arabia. The Hong Kong-based journalist says their involvement in the continental club competition will provide a “boost” for club football across the continent as football fans in Asia take more of an interest in its own domestic football following the marquee transfers to Saudi Arabia.
