Bringing ‘good fire’ back to the land

CrowdScience

Available for over a year

The Karuk Tribe of Northwestern California traditionally used fire to manage their land, promote biodiversity and cut wildfire risk. National laws controlling cultural fire nearly caused this tradition to be lost, but now things are changing. Bill Tripp is Director of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy for the Karuk Tribe Department of Natural Resources. He explains how the Karuk Tribe are bringing ‘good fire’ back to the land.
