Move over Stonehenge... Medway wants UNESCO

Available for over a year

Medway could soon have something in common with the Great Barrier Reef, the Grand Canyon and Stonehenge. The Council has agreed to support proposals for the east coast wetlands, which includes parts of the Hoo Peninsula and land surrounding the River Medway, to be put forward for UNESCO world heritage site status. If accepted, the area would be considered a natural site of global importance. RSPB regional manager. Alan Johnson explains the significance of the area to Anna Cookson.
