Firefighters based at Coventry’s Radford Road station, are collecting new toys from the public and businesses, to deliver to patients on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at University Hospital in Coventry and Birmingham Children's Hospital. The collections were inspired when firefighter Darren Hutchinson's son, Cam, spent time in hospital. Darren would pass on toys to other children, and with the support of firefighter Daniel McQuillan, the collections have become an annual event. Darren now works out of West Midlands Fire Service at Birmingham Airport, but still takes part in collections.
