Sport TodayAvailable for over a year
As Canada’s all-time leading goalscorer Christine Sinclair retires, what will her legacy be? Sinclair, 40, is the most prolific scorer in international football and pulls on the Canadian jersey for the 332nd and final time for the friendly match against Australia. Over the course of a 23-year international career, she’s been an Olympic gold medallist and scored 190 goals for her country Journalist Harjeet Johal explained to Sport Today’s Ade Adedoyin just how she’s viewed in Canada: “She’s massive…I put her up there next to Wayne Gretzky. We have the great one and we have the GOAT in Christine. “I would say she’s right up there. She’s a huge icon, a huge leader and a huge inspiration for our country.” Photo: Christine Sinclair #12 of Team Canada celebrates with Julia Grosso #7 following their team's victory in the penalty shoot-out in the Women's Gold Medal Match between Canada and Sweden on day fourteen of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at International Stadium Yokohama on August 06, 2021 in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan.
