£13 million on hotels for homeless in Liverpool
Available for over a year
Liverpool city council is reviewing how it finds emergency housing for homeless people, after revealing it spent nearly £13 million on hotel rooms last year. The authority says options which are less expensive and more "person-centred" are being explored. A Freedom of Information request by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Merseyside's Political Reporter Claire Hamilton found the cost of hotel rooms for the homeless had risen from about £950,000 in 2019-2020 to £12.7 million last year.
