'Humble' Xmas tree sparks bidding frenzy

Available for over a year

The ‘humblest' Christmas tree in the world went up for auction in Banbury. The tree went under the hammer at Hansons Auctioneers. The 31-inch artificial tree was originally bought in 1920 in the aftermath of the First World War. It served as Dorothy Grant's Christmas tree from her time as a little girl up until her death in 2014, at the age of 101. Charles Hanson believed it could fetch up to £80... He told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Oxford's Sophie Law what it sold for. Photo credit: Hansons Auctioneers.
