Parliament returns today (Monday 8th Jan) to a gathering storm over the Post Office scandal. It's in the spotlight thanks to the ITV drama, "Mr Bates versus the Post Office". More than seven hundred Post Office branch managers were convicted of false accounting, theft and fraud when, in fact, faulty software in the Horizon IT system was to blame. One of those is Jo Hamilton from Hampshire who was accused of stealing £36,000 by the post office. She pleaded guilty in 2008 to false accounting for fear of going to prison. However, her conviction was quashed in 2021 after she was found to be a victim of the Horizon Post Office scandal. Jo was portrayed in the drama by actress Monica Dolan
