Ludlow's Town Wall petition

Available for over a year

It's almost eleven years since part of Ludlow's ancient Town Wall collapsed - but it remains surrounded by scaffolding, fencing and sandbags. The Garden of Rest, on the other side of the wall, behind St Laurence's Church, is also still closed. One resident says the whole 13th century wall was built in not much longer than the time they've been waiting to get it fixed. Our reporter Faith Page has been to the wall - to meet Sheena Wieckowicz who's started a petition. The town council, which is leading on the issue, issued a statement saying that they're seeking further advice from their barrister. A spokesperson on behalf of the parish and Hereford diocese said: "We remain engaged and committed to working with the local town council over any plans they wish to present for approval to rebuild the collapsed section of the town wall behind the closed churchyard of St Laurence's Church."
