Oxford inspires Game of Thrones

Available for over a year

Game of Thrones, the hugely successful TV series based on George RR Martin's iconic series of books, is known for its fantastical settings and characters. But are the creations a little closer to reality - and closer to Oxford - than we might have thought? A historian has claimed that the 'real-life Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen' was from England. Not only that --- but apparently, she spent time living in what we know today as Oxford Castle and Prison. Image credit: HBO
