Mary Wollstonecraft is perhaps best known as the mother of Mary Shelley, creator of Frankenstein. She died 11 days after her daughter's birth, aged 38. She's also regarded as being a founding feminist philosopher, known for her 1792 text, 'A Vindication of the Rights of Woman'. She spent her early years in the East Yorkshire town of Beverley.
