Alan Hayward, from Southampton, is one of the finalists in our Carer category for ��ѿ��ý Radio Solent's Make a Difference Awards for 2024. Alan is a full time carer for his wife, who has dementia. "He puts her first every step of the way, cooking, cleaning, remembering all the key dates - birthdays and appointments. This is hard enough but he does this whilst himself dealing with severe breathing difficulties with COPD, and additionally he has diabetes. He is a selfless man who always puts others first before himself. He does it without complaint and with the love he has for his family." ��ѿ��ý Radio Solent's Alun Newman went to meet Alan and his daughter, Kerry. The Make a Difference Awards are your chance to say “Thank You” and show recognition and appreciation for people who love to make life better for others. Nominations for the 2024 awards have now closed and finalists have been selected by a panel of judges. The winners will be announced at our ��ѿ��ý Radio Solent Make a Difference Awards ceremony in September.
