Remembering The Duchess

Gayle Lofthouse

Available for over a year

The Duchess of York was a legendary venue in Leeds. It played host to everyone from Captain Beefheart to The Cranberries, and is famous for being the venue that brought Oasis, Nirvana, Coldplay, Blur, The Manic Street Preachers, Muse, PJ Harvey, Pulp, De La Soul, and many more to West Yorkshire. One man was largely responsible, and ahead of the unveiling of a Civic Trust Blue Plaque commemorating the venue, John Keenan looks back at life at The Duchess.
