How does an animal cross the road?

CrowdScience

Available for over a year

While searching for roadkill with CrowdScience presenter Anand Jagatia, Dr Paul Donald describes the 4 ways animals cross the roads. They adopt one of four strategies: Ignoring, pausing, speeding or avoiding. Animals like many types of flying insects never seem to acknowledge the road exists. Where as many mammals will either pause at the side, or attempt to speed over it. But Dr Donald says, most at danger in the long run are the avoiders, those which never go near a road, because their habitats are restricted to tiny portions of the countryside by a network of roads.
