Major works ahead as broken lights finally replaced

Available for over a year

Traffic lights at a major junction in Southampton have been broken since September 2024. Inefficient temporary lights have been in place at Civic Centre junction whilst a permanent solution was found. In October 2024, the City Council said it had faced "challenges" repairing the lights because some unique parts were "no longer manufactured". Seven weeks of work will soon begin to replace all the signals and underground cables. Council leader Lorna Fielker spoke to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Solent's Alun Newman about the work and why the traffic lights weren't replaced sooner.
