Man killed by tree in Erdington

A man who was killed by a falling tree during Storm Darragh has been named locally as Kahir Shahin Hussain. Mr Shahin died on Saturday when a tree collapsed and fell on to a car on Sutton Road in Erdington, Birmingham. In a post on X, external, Birmingham city councillor Majid Mahmood named Mr Shahin as the victim and said his thoughts and prayers were with his family. Abdul Joshim, who said Mr Shahin was his brother-in-law, also shared a picture of him on Facebook and paid tribute. West Midlands Police said the case had been referred to the coroner. His daughter Fatima and wife Imrama paid tribute to him.
