Unlike basketball's NBA and WNBA, there is no professional American Football league for women. Women and men play flag football, a non contact variant of the game that will be at the LA Olympics in 2028, but there's no professional women's equivalent to the NFL. That was about to change in 2019, with the formation of a fully-professional league. Santia Deck was chosen to be the face of the sport and signed a $1 million dollar contract. However, five years on and without a game played or a dollar paid, she's been telling Sportshour's Katie Smith how that dream was cruelly snatched away.
