Craig Wood was just 18 when he lost both legs and his left arm in a roadside bomb whilst serving as a British Army rifleman in Afghanistan. 16 years later and he's attempting to make history as the first triple amputee to sail non-stop and unsupported across the Pacific Ocean. His planned journey is to sail 6,000 nautical miles (11,112km) from Mexico to Japan on a custom-built aluminium boat which he usually lives on whilst travelling around the world with his wife and two children. He tells Sportshour’s Shabnam Younus-Jewell about why he’s doing it, what he’s expecting to be his biggest challenge and the one thing he’s made sure he’s packed plenty of.
