Leicester’s De Montfort University is home to a collection of treasures which span the career of comedy legend and actor Tony Hancock. ‘Hancock’s Half Hour’ ran on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ radio and then television in the 1950s and 1960s. The programme was listened to by millions and brought huge fame to Hancock and also script writers Ray Galton and Alan Simpson. The archive at DMU is home to Hancock’s famous hat and coat as well as a collection of scripts from the programme, alongside original ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ photos and recordings. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Leicester's Ben Jackson went to see the collection for himself with Katharine Short, Special Collections Manager at De Montfort University.
