Rare Chinese bible discovered in Essex

Available for over a year

The first complete Bible written in Chinese which was donated to a charity shop in Chelmsford, has sold for over £56,000 at auction. The lot also included a first edition of 'A Christmas Carol' and a signed copy of Matilda, by Roald Dahl. The text is more than two-hundred years ago and is considered 'extremely rare'. Oxfam shop manager Nick Reeves said staff have been left "absolutely speechless"... Picture credit: Bonhams.
