62. April - Clocks forward, gardeners back

Terry Walton's Plotcast

Available for over a year

Down to earth advice on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley. It's time for all the summer gardeners to catch up with the all year round allotmenteers as there's another hour in the day to get outside. It's time to plant under the brassica net - cabbages and broccoli go in, with Terry's special recipe for compost to avoid club root. The mesh goes back over the new plants to shelter them and keep the insects out. It's a good time to clear any weeds around the asparagus crown and give the crop the best chance for a successful harvest. If you have a question about your own crops, you can e mail AskTerry@bbc.co.uk To download Terry's Crop Calendar, search for Terry Walton's Plotcast online Producer: Lynda Shahwan
