Oxford doctor helps make medical history

A baby girl has made history as the first child in the UK to be born from a womb transplant. Baby Amy Isabel was named after her Aunt, who donated her womb to the baby’s mother, Grace. Isabel is after the Oxford surgeon, Isabel Quiroga, who led the transplant team at the Churchill Hospital. Isabel Quiroga was present at the birth, along with Prof Richard Smith who led the organ retrieval team. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Oxford’s Sophie Law spoke to both of them. Photo credit: WTUK
