They're a staple of weddings and parties and some of the biggest names are global superstars - but the world's first DJ is said to be Ron Diggins from Boston. Ron and his 'Diggola' were a familiar sight at south Lincolnshire dances from the 40s to the 90s. He's thought to be the first DJ to use two turntables to keep the music constantly playing and is regarded as a hugely influential figure in the development of modern DJ culture.
