Barbeque 67: Spalding's groundbreaking festival
Secret LincolnshireAvailable for over a year
On 29 May 1967 music history was made in Spalding with Barbeque 67, widely thought to be the first ever rock festival. Thousands of fans packed into a flower bulb auction hall in the Lincolnshire town to see a bill which included Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Cream. Now largely forgotten and with the venue long since demolished, Barbeque 67 was the forerunner of the likes of Woodstock and Glastonbury.
