65. April - Parsnip perfection

Terry Walton's Plotcast

Available for over a year

Down to earth advice on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley. The plot's looking healthy after some much needed spring rain. It's time to pay some attention to the parsnips growing in the trug and thin out plants growing closely together, snipping carefully with scissors to avoid disturbing any new growth. The soil is ready for the main crop carrots to go in, sowing the delicate seeds into fine compost and covering with a fine mesh. If you have a question about your own crops, you can e mail AskTerry@bbc.co.uk Producer: Lynda Shahwan
