67. May - Lettuce be honest

Terry Walton's Plotcast

Available for over a year

Down to earth advice on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley. As the warm weather continues the lettuce plans are blooming, ready to complete the salad plate. Terry's sown sweetcorn into root trainers, and put them into a warm place for a week before bringing them to the greenhouse. The strawberry plants are starting to flower so it's time to feed them with some blood fish and bone and keep the area free of weeds. Looking ahead to the winter it's time to prepare the leek bed ready using well rotted manure. If you have a question about your crops e mail AskTerry@bbc.co.uk Producer: Lynda Shahwan
