Lady Diana Brittan, the widow of ex-ѿý Secretary Lord Brittan who was falsely accused of being part of a paedophile ring in Westminster, has criticised the decision to drop an investigation into the officer who led an inquiry into the claims. Speaking to Emma Barnett, Lady Brittan says the misconduct proceedings against Met Police officer Steve Rodhouse were “quietly dropped”. Lady Brittan says it showed a “complete lack of professionalism” and that her trust in the Met, and the Independent Office for Police Conduct, was “severely undermined”. In a statement, the IOPC said it was "regrettable" that they received material so late and acknowledged they "could have taken further steps" in seeking assurances from the Met that the material was unavailable. They added the decision to drop the proceedings doesn't change their finding that the Met's handling of Operation Midland was "unacceptable".
