New figures have revealed Black Sabbath's final homecoming gig at Villa Park will help to boost the West Midlands economy by up to £20 million, according to new research by the West Midlands Growth Company. There could be as many as 300,000 culture, sport and food fans expected in the West Midlands in the week prior to the gig. Katharine Merry spoke to David Gange, Associate Professor in History at the University of Birmingham, who is a metal fan and has done a lot of research on the resurgence of metal music.
