'Making jumpers from my own wool'

Farmwatch

Available for over a year

From sheep to shawl: Kerry Hendry is cutting her clothes' air miles to single figures, using local Herefordshire sheep's fleeces to wash, card, spin and knit herself a jumper. Based near Ross-on-Wye, surrounding the beautiful May Hill, Kerry tells Kate Justice how the lengthy project was born from a late night conversation in a lambing shed, helping out at a friend's farm, and says that she is challenging herself to keep her creation as natural as possible. As of August 2025, Kerry is combing out the washed wool, aiming to have her jumper ready to wear by Christmas.
