Why Uttoxeter Racecourse will go on strike
Available for over a year
Shaun Johnson, a former jockey from Staffordshire who works for Kubler Racing, explains why Uttoxeter Racecourse will go on strike on September 10th - and the expected effect on those having a flutter. It's in reaction to the government's plans, which would see a single remote gambling tax put in place which would increase the 15 percent tax rate paid by bookmakers on racing up to 21 percent. It says this would bring it in-line with online gaming. The British Horseracing Authority says it could create a 330 million pound loss in revenue and more than two and a half thousand jobs being put at risk.
