Lincoln commemorates hotel where the tank was born

Available for over a year

The birthplace of the tank in Lincoln has been marked with a plaque commemorating its status as a World Origin Site. A prototype named Little Willie was built by Fosters of Lincoln in 1915, after plans for an armoured combat vehicle were conceived at the White Hart Hotel in top secret meetings in a room now named the Tank Room. The plaque was unveiled by Martin Wilkie, founder of World Origin Site and TV presenter Guy Martin from Grimsby visited the site with his replica full size WW1 tank.
