Pink Box: Supporting Girls, Removing Barriers

Make a Difference: Merseyside

Available for over a year

Meet Anna, a finalist for the Make a Difference Volunteer Award 2025. Since 2018, Anna has run the Pink Box Project on Wirral, providing free period products to girls and women across the community. With support from Tesco community champions in Bidston and Rockferry, Anna has placed Pink Boxes in doctors’ surgeries, leisure and community centres, libraries, and social supermarkets to make products easily accessible and avoid embarrassment. Driven by her experience volunteering with Feeding Birkenhead, Anna recognised the impact of period poverty on school attendance and participation in sport and leisure. Her dedication has ensured young people aren’t disadvantaged, while raising awareness and helping schools access funding for their pupils.
