Hugging: Is there a science behind it?

PM Highlights

Available for over a year

Hugging is an important social phenomenon - and although it comes instinctively, there are ways to hug and to not hug in different contexts. A new German study has been looking at how people hug, including the duration and the intensity, and even if you can tell someone's intentions from the hug they give you. PM's Evan Davis spoke to Sebastian Ocklenburg, the professor behind the study, and tested out the research around different length hugs with producer Ayo. Photo credit: Getty Images
