Meet Penny’s Ark, a finalist for the Make a Difference Animal Award 2025. Penny’s Ark is a small dog and cat rescue charity run by a dedicated team of volunteers. They work tirelessly to rescue animals from the streets and “kill shelters” in Romania, where many dogs and cats face abandonment, cruelty, injury, and disease. The charity focuses on finding these animals safe, loving homes where they will be cared for for the rest of their lives. Penny’s Ark doesn’t just work abroad — they rescue dogs in the UK as well. Every rescued animal, receives dedicated care, attention, and love from the volunteers. The team’s compassion, commitment, and tireless efforts ensure these animals can live happy, healthy lives.
