The music executive Rob Dickins was born 1950 in East Ham to a musical family. His father Percy was a saxophonist and pianist - and one of the founders of the NME. Rob’s career started in 1971 when he joined Warner Music. By 1974 he was made the Managing Director. His first signing was Howard Jones, and after that he brought the likes of Seal, Simply Red, Enya, and Cher to the UK label. He worked especially closely with Enya, even in the recording process. He constructed Cher's song "Believe”. Rob was made a CBE in 2002 for services to the music industry.
