Comedian Arthur Smith was born in Bermondsey in 1954. He cut his teeth in comedy on the alternative circuit of the 1980s and today performs in much the same way as he did then. He’s also done lots of musical comedy in his career, notably, Arthur Smith's Balham Bash on Radio 4. He’s famously a long time resident of Du Cane Court in Balham, and has described himself as the ‘Night Mayor’ of the neighbourhood. These days he also narrates the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ series Money for Nothing. Arthur Smith revealed his favourite haunts, memories, pet hates and everything in between with Robert Elms. This interview was first broadcast in May 2009.
