Brooklyn to Tunstall: Chuck’s Suffolk

Secret Suffolk

Available for over a year

Chuck Dalldorf was a young American airman from the streets of Brooklyn, New York, sent on his first Air Force assignment in the late 1970s to the twin air force bases of RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge in rural Suffolk, where he fell in love with a village called Tunstall and a pub called The Green Man. Matt Marvel went for a walk with Chuck around Tunstall, where Chuck shared some of his memories from his time in the county. Chuck has written a book about his time in Suffolk — Notes from the Green Man: A Memoir. If you’d like to share feedback or ideas for future episodes, get in contact at matt.marvel@bbc.co.uk.
