How can disused bits of Victorian case iron been turned into art? Ceramicist Simon Turner does just that, by turned London's many coal hole covers into moulds for plates and bowls. Coal hole covers are left over from when buildings had a direct shoot for coal from the street to basements and in some areas of London there are hundreds of them hidden in plain sight, set into the pavement or on the front steps of terraced houses. So how does Simon do it? And what can we learn about London's industrial past from the intricate Victorian patterns? ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio London's Robert Elms has been speaking to Simon Turner to find out.
