Blitz 85: A mother's letter to her son
Available for over a year
2025 marks the 85th anniversary of the Coventry Blitz. German bombers attacked Coventry for 11 hours, destroying thousands of buildings and claiming the lives of 554 people. Barry James’ mum, Beryl Gertrude Harvey, was just 12 years old when the Blitz struck. She passed away in 2012 at the age of 84. While sorting through her belongings, Barry made an extraordinary discovery, a letter she had written to him that described her experiences of that night, the sights, the sounds, the smells. He spoke to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ CWR’s Richard Williams about what he found.
