Fire sweeps through Bangladeshi capital Dhaka

In Sudan, there have now been more than two months of protests with 50 protesters killed. The newsletter Africa Confidential says that during this time, it has evidence of an international attempt to persuade President Omar al-Bashir to resign. A fast-moving fire has swept through a historic district of Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, killing at least 60. A vigil is being held in Kenya for the human rights activist Caroline Mwatha today. An autopsy revealed that she died from a botched abortion.
