The United States is increasing pressure on the Venezuelan government, deploying the world’s largest warship toward the Caribbean in a major escalation of its military presence in the region. Also in today’s programme: Western powers, led by the US, are intensifying efforts to push Russia toward ending its war in Ukraine. Earlier this week, Washington announced sweeping new sanctions targeting Russia’s two biggest oil companies to force Moscow to the negotiating table. And in a remarkable medical story, a woman with Parkinson’s disease played the clarinet during her brain surgery.
