Barriers to blood donation

Africa Life Clinic

Available for over a year

Africa has the lowest rate of blood donation in the world. Many hospitals require people to donate blood if a family member enters hospital, in what is known as the family replacement strategy. People are unwilling to voluntarily donate blood despite public information campaigns due to cultural beliefs and misinformation. Charles Mgbolu reports from Lagos. Presented by Priscilla Ngethe.
