Miss Jobizz is one of the Gambia’s most successful female artists. She has released dozens of songs in Mandinka, her native language, and has collaborated with Gambia’s big male stars including Jizzle. She’s also spread her wings beyond her country, winning awards in Senegal and Rwanda and collaborating with the likes of Salatiel from Cameroon and Saifond Balde from Guinea. But in this episode, Miss Jobizz tells DJ Edu that the Gambia is a traditional country and many believe a woman's place is in the home. She has had to endure serious opposition from family members and contend with a music establishment that has only just begun to take women seriously. However, Miss Jobizz reveals she has recently been invited to set up a music school to support aspiring Gambian female artists, which is something she would love to do.
