Approx size 12" Worked in one piece to armhole. Nice pattern for S.C.B.U.s as no side seams

Use 4ply wool and No 10-3.25 needles If you want an even smaller garment use 3ply.

Cast on 104 sts work 3 rows in garter stitch (every row knit)

Keeping 3 sts at each end I garter stitch, Work 30 rows in stocking stitch (knit 1 row Purl 1 row)

If you wish a small pattern may be worked on the first 6-8 rows, or on both fronts, using 6-8 stitches inside garter stitch border

NEXT ROW-MAKE BUTTONHOLE, K1 yfwd K2 together, complete row as before

Work one more row

DIVIDE FOR ARMHOLE

Pattern 28sts, Cast off the next 4 sts ,(leaving 26 on needle.) Knit 46, including the stitch on needle.

Cast off 4, Pattern to end. (Should leave 26-44-26.)

Continue on the last 26sts (keeping 3 sts at the end in garter stitch)

1st row, Purl

Next row K1 slip 1 K1 pass slip stitch over. Pattern to the end. Repeat these 2 rows to 16 sts, finishing at the neck edge.

Cast off 6 sts, and decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge on the following 4 rows. Continue decreasing at the armhole edge as before to 2 sts. Purl 2 together.

Rejoin wool to 44sts and Purl to end. Next row K1, slip 1 K1 pass slip stitch over knit to the last 3 stitches , knit 2 together,knit 1. Repeat the last 2 rows to 18sts. Purl 1 row. Cast off.

Rejoin wool. To last 26 sts, Purl to the last 3 sts, Knit 3, pattern next row to the last 3 sts , Knit 2 together K1, Repeat last 2 rows to 22sts, finishing at front edge.

Next row make buttonhole , K1 yarn forward K 2 together, Knit to the last 3 sts Knit 2 together k1, pattern to end. Complete to match left front reversing all the shapings.

SLEEVES

Cast on 26 sts garter stitch 5 rows.

Continue in stocking stitch increasing 1 stitch at each end of the first and every following 6th row until 36 sts

Stocking stitch 8 more rows ending on a Purl row. 32 rows of stocking stitch have now been worked.

Shape top, Cast off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows.

Next row k1 slip 1 K1 pass slip stitch over, knit to the last 3 sts knit 2 together k1.

Next row Purl to end

Continue with these 2 rows until 6 sts remain

CAST OFF

Join Raglan Seams.

Pick up 48stitches evenly round the neck. Garter stitch 5 rows, making buttonhole, as before on 2nd row. (If you wish cast on 48sts, garter sts 5 rows, DON’T FORGET BUTTONHOLE, neatly sew onto cardigan

CAST OFF SEW UP SEAMS NEATLY AND ADD ON BUTTONS.
