More Favourite Baby Blankets

Shirley Cowling's very kindly provided us with another of her Baby Blanket patterns. To make yours follow her instructions below.

Using cone ends of 3 colours of Baby Bramwell & Knitmaster card 3. 4 rows of each colour in Tuck & using a single bed colour changer. For those of you with a charting device this is a perfect way to create a multitude of different blankets with cone ends in a rainbow of colours and experimental stitches.

Shirley makes her blankets 46cms wide and 51cms long (18â€‌ x 20â€‌), if your Hospital likes a different size it will be no trouble to alter.

Firstly, draw a rectangle (or square) on you sheet to the required size (Brother or Toyota) or half the dimension for Knitmaster or Passap/Pfaff (half-scale charters). You can now use this pattern again and again for different stitch patterns and yarns by setting in the co-ordinates for each tension square.

Cast on 54 sts each side of centre 0 by weaving brush method.

Knit 2 rows stocking stitch selecting needles for pattern as you knit to left.

Knit 320 rows in multi-colour tuck pattern.

Cancel pattern and knit 2 rows stocking stitch at loose tension.

Cast off very loosely.

Decorate edge with tuck lace folded edging or crochet.
